About Christine — Country Farmhouse Living

Christine in her garden

My Story

Hi, I'm Christine.
Welcome to my world.

I grew up in a small town where everyone had a garden and nobody locked their doors. Life was slower then — and I've spent the last twenty years trying to get back to that feeling.

My husband and I moved to our farmhouse on the edge of a lake in 2006. We had big dreams and absolutely no idea what we were doing. We've learned almost everything the hard way — and I wouldn't trade a single lesson.

The Long Version

How we got here

When we first moved to the farm, I killed every plant I touched. My first batch of sourdough was a brick. My first attempt at canning ended with a jar exploding on the kitchen ceiling. My first chickens — bless their hearts — were more work than I ever imagined. But I kept going, because something about this life felt right in a way nothing else ever had.

Over the years, I found my rhythm. The garden started producing more than we could eat. The sourdough got good — really good. The chickens became my favorite part of every morning. And the farmhouse, which was a bit of a wreck when we bought it, slowly became the warm, beautiful home I'd always dreamed of.

Friends started asking questions. How do you do that? Where did you learn? Can you show me? I started writing things down — first in notebooks, then in emails, then here. Country Farmhouse Living began as a way to share what I'd learned with people who wanted the same kind of life.

That was eight years ago. Today this little corner of the internet has grown into a community of hundreds of thousands of people who love the same things I do — simple food, beautiful spaces, animals, gardens, and the deep satisfaction of a life built with your own hands.

"I'm not an expert. I'm just someone who loves this life and wants to share it — the beautiful parts and the messy ones alike."

If you're here because you're dreaming of a simpler life, or you're already living it and just want some company — you're in exactly the right place. Pull up a chair. I'll put the kettle on.

What I Believe

The things that guide this place

Slow & Intentional

I believe the best life is one lived on purpose — not rushed, not perfect, but deeply present.

Close to the Earth

Growing your own food, tending a garden, knowing where things come from — it changes you in the best way.

Honest & Practical

I share what actually works in my real life, not a curated fantasy. The messy parts too.

Always Learning

After twenty years I'm still figuring things out — and I think that's exactly how it should be.

Know someone who'd love this corner of the internet?
